Top Gun Director Tony Scott Commits Suicide at Age 68
British film director Tony Scott died on Sunday after fatally jumping off the Vincent Thomas Bridge in Los Angeles, California.
Witnesses say the 68-year-old filmmaker climbed a fence on the bridge yesterday afternoon and jumped off “without hesitation.”
Investigators recovered Tony’s body from the water around 3 p.m. and later found a suicide note in the director’s office.
Perhaps best known for directing 80’s hit, Top Gun, Tony also made movies Enemy of the State, Beverly Hills Cop II, and Crimson Tide and temporarily produced Numb3rs and The Good Wife. He was also the brother of filmmaker Ridley Scott, whose film Prometheus hit theaters this summer.
