Gunmen Kill Father, Daughter, Set Houses Ablaze in Kaduna
Gruesome night attacks and killings in Southern Kaduna villages have continued unabated, as unknown gunmen on Friday night stormed one of the villages killing Mr. Matthew Ishaku and his daughter, Janet
Heavily armed gunmen attacked the villages of Kpong-Asansun, Madakiya District, Zangon Kataf Local government Area of Kaduna state, had after killing the family man and his daughter, shot the wife who later survived the bullet wounds.
LEADERSHIP SUNDAY gathered that the gunmen also set the man’s house and that of his uncle ablaze the same night.
Some of the community leaders who spoke to LEADERSHIP SUNDAY expressed sadness over the continual attacks and killings on their communities.
A youth of the area, Alex Andy told LEADERSHIP SUNDAY that the attackers stormed the community while they were asleep.
He said, “We were sleeping when we heard gunshots, we could not help ourselves because the people were heavily armed, everybody was just running for his own lives.”
“After killing the man and his daughter, they went ahead to burn his house and that of his uncle, the rest of us have to run for safety”, he said.
The District head of the area, Dr. David Kantiok who visited the community with other government functionaries, described the incident as unfortunate calling on the people to be vigilant.
“With what is happening, the youth and the entire people don’t need to sleep. We have to rise to the challenge and protect ourselves,” he said.
