According to a statement by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Dr. Reuben Abati, the President would deliver a keynote address at the Summit of the World Customs Organisation in Brussels on Thursday.
He will also meet with the Nigerian community in Belgium before returning to Abuja on Thursday evening.
Jonathan will be accompanied by his wife, Patience; Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Olugbenga Ashiru; Coordinating Minister for the Economy and Minister of Finance, Dr. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala; Minister of Trade and Investment, Dr. Olusegun Aganga; Senator Dahiru Kuta and Mr. Chinda Ogundu of the House of Representatives.
Meanwhile, the President has congratulated Dr. Mohamed Morsi on his emergence as Egypt’s President–elect following the country’s recent run-off presidential election.
In a congratulatory message to Morsi, Jonathan described his victory as well deserved.
He noted that the elections were an important milestone in the history of modern Egypt.
The congratulatory letter read, “I write to offer my warmest congratulations on your election as President of the Arab Republic of Egypt. The election in which you triumphed – the culmination of a long process of political transition – marked an important milestone in the history of modern Egypt.President Goodluck Jonathan will on Wednesday (today) leave Abuja for Brussels after the weekly meeting of the Federal Executive Council on a one-day official visit to Belgium.
