Nigeria Loose Bakassi To cameroon

THE Federal government yesterday sealed Nigeria’s hope of recovering the Bakassi Peninsula, by saying that the government will not appeal the International Court of Justice, (ICJ) judgment of 2002 ceding the Peninsula to Cameroon.

The Minister of Justice in a long statement released last night said that after consultation with experts, the government decided not to pursue the review of the case stating that it will be more damaging to the country diplomatically if she failed in her quest.

Adoke’s release entitled, statement of Bakassi stated that:

It will be recalled that on 10th October 2002, the International Court of Justice (ICJ) delivered judgment in Land and Maritime Boundary between Cameroon and Nigeria, which covers about 2000 kilometres extending from Lake Chad to the Sea.

Popular Comedian, Okey Bakassi Returns From Imo State Politics

Popular Nollywood actor and stand up comedian Okechukwu Anthony Oyegbule aka Okey Bakassi has been away from the entertainment scene for quite a while now, well that is because he dabbled into politics or answerd the call to serve his people.
Okey Bakassi was always in every comedy movie and shows happening all around the country, until a few years back when he joined the former governor of Imo State, Ikedi Ohakim as a Senior Special Assistant. Due to his commitment to the new challenge, he droped everything entertainment and became a full fledged politician, however Ikedi Ohakim failed in his re-election bid and so came an end to S.A Okey Bakassi  sojourn in politics.

Gist has it now that the actor/comedian turned politician is finding his way back into the entertainment industry, but will be playing a more significant role, safe to say he will be taking part in only big budget events and movies. During a recent interview the ace comedian had this to say:
“Right now I’m fully in showbiz that’s what I do. I have finished my assignment in Imo State and I am back to my primary constituency, which is showbiz. If a public service calls on me again in form of politics, I will answer. Though I have had series of allegations of me shunning movie scripts, that will not be totally correct, last year I shot a movie. This year I have not shot one.
The reason is that you get a point in your career you don’t have to be in hundred movies to make a point. At this stage in my career, I want to do movies that my children will be proud to watch in the next ten years. I don’t want to jump to scripts that just come my way.”
I think Okey Bakassi has a very valid point, since he has seen the big bucks while in politics and enjoying VIP status, he certainly cannot jump on any kind of arrangement, it must be serious minded people with serious cash.
